Cherry City always welcomes new referees, non-skating officials (NSOs), and volunteers. Becoming an official is a great way to be a part of the derby community and learn about roller derby. Our talented crew will train you in the many officiating positions and our skater training program can help you with your skating skills. Officials can be any gender, but must be at least 18 years old.

Referees

Want to lay down the rules on the track? Whether you are a skilled skater or new to the sport, we will teach you! Our practice scrimmages are typically held on Thursday evenings and you are welcome to shadow one of our skilled referees to learn the rules of the game, have some fun, and try it out!

Non-Skating Officials

Love roller derby and want to join in on the action, yet don’t want to strap on skates? Become a Non-Skating Official (NSO)! We are always looking for volunteers to help with score keeping, penalty tracking, and penalty box timing. Check it out, have some fun, and you will be right in the middle of the action!

Cherry City is a member of the Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby Association (WFTDA) and we play by the official rule set. Check out the WFTDA rules resources to learn more.
